ABOUT THE LIGHTHOUSE

OUR MISSION & PURPOSE

The Lighthouse, is committed to providing the recovering alcoholic and addict (substance use disorder) with a structured, safe environment, in which to grow in his Christian faith and through the recovery programs of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. In so doing, residents of The Lighthouse will successfully become respected members of their communities and responsible decisions will become an intuitive part of daily living.

“If any man be in Christ he is a new creation, the old has passed away, behold all things become new” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

OUR STORY

Founded in 2003, The Lighthouse, a 501©3 non-profit non-sectarian organization and located in Greenwood County South Carolina, is an eight-month Christian transitional living recovery program for men with substance abuse disorder. We are dedicated to the individual who will commit to Christian values and a productive sober life.  We have six recovery homes with a capacity of 41 residents, and continue to have a high rate of success (those who remain in recovery) among program graduates.

The Lighthouse program is well established with a heritage of success and deep relationships throughout the recovery community, local and state agencies, and community partnerships with local businesses and employment agencies. Our residents are extremely successful in obtaining employment. Community, societal and life reintegration requires the ability to balance work, recovery, relationships and financial responsibility.  The Lighthouse is a transitional living program bridge between an inpatient program and living a life free of alcohol and drugs.

The Lighthouse’ eight-month transitional living program is guided by and incorporates throughout our program the Christian teachings of Jesus Christ and requires each resident to attend church and actively participate in the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and / or Narcotics Anonymous.  Through our structured and safe environment, residents can comfortably grow and begin to experience the freedom from the bondage of addiction. Residents are provided with modern accommodations and a favorable job market.  Recovery meetings, restaurants, jobs, and churches are within walking distance.
